Cruks is struggling with a malfunction
The Central Register For The Exclusion Of Games Of Chance (Cruks) struggling with a malfunction at the moment. It is therefore for online casinos not possible to request data and welcome newcomers. The failure is most likely due to a problem in the connections between various systems. It is not yet clear when the disruption will be resolved. The gaming providers cannot process new registrations due to the malfunction.
Cruks
Cruks is an exclusion register of the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa). The registry should better protect the player and provide the opportunity to be able to unsubscribe. As soon as a player is registered, the person in question is excluded from participating in both online and offline games of chance for at least six months.
Technical failure on October 1, 2021
It is not the first time that Cruks has faced technical problems. The online casino market opened its doors on October 1, 2021, however, the opening had to be postponed due to the technical problems at Cruks. A day later, the first game providers could actually go live in New Zealand. Despite this, the failure already raised the necessary questions about the reliability of the exclusion register.
Update: the error has now been fixed.
Increase in number of Cruks registrations
In early August 2023, the Gaming Authority announced that more than 20,000 New Zealanders had signed up for Cruks. Since legalization, the number of applications has been steadily increasing. The exclusion register therefore seems to pay off and better protect the New Zealand player against a possible gambling addiction.
