Our small group eco tour will let you discover the beauty and nature of Tawharanui Regional Park in daytime and at night. Stunning white sandy beaches, native coastal forest, bush, birds.

A true eco experience, back to nature and guided by our passionate and knowledgeable guide in a small group (maximum 7 guests, no minimum).
You will discover some local history, and learn what shaped the natural environment of NZ to how it is today. Our Day/Night Tour spans an afternoon and evening returning you to your hotel at approximately 10.30pm and includes amazing sights and a delicious picnic dinner. For daytime only tours, click here. |
What You Will See & Do
After sunset the bush environment changes. Tawharanui is home to the NZ Brown Kiwi, few NZ’ers have seen this bird in the wild, Morepork (NZ owl) and Weta.
Much of our insect life, fish life and some bird life are nocturnal, this is an opportunity to experience what goes on in the dark!
This tour is the same as the day tour, with a shorter nature walk in the daylight. We then enjoy a delicious picnic dinner whilst enjoying the views of the beach and ocean, before heading into the bush for our night walk where we hope to see kiwis and other wildlife.
After your tour we will drop you back at your hotel arriving at approximately 10.30pm.

Note: A reasonable level of fitness is required for the walks; however the pace will be leisurely while we search out the wildlife and enjoy the bush and views.

Weather
This is an outdoors activity and weather is often changeable. The tour is viable for most weather conditions.

Having entered summer and the warmer weather – each day we go to Tawharanui we find the birds being more active and young beginning to appear – it’s really a special time to be here!
